Peter Le Beau, co-author of the Protection Review and founder of the Income Protection Task Force (IPTF) received his MBE for services to insurance and to charity at a ceremony on 5 November.
The managing director of independent consultancy Le Beau Visage has spent 30 years in the life and health insurance industry.
Le Beau began his career at Commercial Union (later Norwich Union) before moving on to British and European and, later, Swiss Re, where he began as head of underwriting and finished as head of UK marketing.
He set up Le Beau Visage in 2001 and, four years later, the IPTF. The organisation, founded alongside Clive Waller to promote awareness of the value of income protection, has since published two white papers.
His charity work includes donating a portion of Le Beau Visage's income to disability campaigning organisation RADAR as well as regular support for autism charities. This year, he is also pledging support to The Golden Oldies, an organisation that arranges events for the elderly.
Le Beau professed himself "Excited and pleased" at the award.
