If he wasn't in financial services, Lytle says he would have been a maths teacher

In the first of a series of weekly interviews, Michael John Lytle, Source's London-based director, talks to ETFM about his favourite pastimes and his alternative career path.

What are you reading?
I'm reading a book called Independence Day written by an American author, Richard Ford. It's all about challenging times in your life.

What is the next film you would like to see?
That is a hard one. My wife and I have a date night on Friday nights and we often like to go to dinner and then the movies but the absolute rubbish in the cinema is driving me nuts.

The last good movie I saw was Tree of Life with Sean Penn. It is a story of one family dealing with loss; there are a lot of flashbacks and imagery and it is not immediately clear how it relates.

I was dragged to Harry Potter part two with my kids a couple of nights ago, in 3D. That was one of the worst experiences.

What are you currently listening to on your iPod/MP3 player?
I listen to a lot of things like James Brown and a lot of 60s and 70s because frankly, I'm that old. The way I look at it is that they don't make it like they used to; there are a few people who still make some good music but they are few and far between.

I like Jonny Cash American I to V and At Folsom Prison, James Taylor Greatest Hits, Jacqueline du Pré Bach Cello Suites and Elgar Cello Concerto and O Brother, Where Art Thou? the movie soundtrack. When I get going, there are so many great albums.

What would you do if you weren't in financial services?
One of two things: I would either be teaching maths, probably in high school or I would be working in alternative energy, doing start ups to create new energy solutions.
