Thomas Rampulla, managing director at Vanguard UK talks about his love of The Clash and finding time to relax with four children.
Who is your favourite author?
Michael Lewis is probably my favourite author, I really like the way he tells a story.
His book Liar's Poker written in 1989 was enormously influential to many young professionals of my era, unfortunately for the wrong reasons. He meant the book to expose the negative aspects of the Wall Street culture but it ended up glorifying the very culture he was criticising.
I'm a sports fan and really like his books Moneyball and The Blind Side. His most recent book The Big Short was a brilliant take on the global financial crisis.
What is the next film you would like to see?
Probably Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy, I really enjoy a good spy thriller and Gary Oldman is meant to be really good in the movie. Also, I like John le Carre's writing.
I was supposed to see it with my wife this past weekend but we had a baby-sitting scheduling problem.
If you could see anyone in concert who would it be?
Probably The Clash. I love the music and with all of that energy the show would be fantastic.
What is your favourite way of relaxing after a long day in the office?
Having four children, relaxing after a long day at the office does not happen very often. I do enjoy putting them to bed and reading a story or talking to them about their day. It is a good way to wind down from the stresses of the day.
If you weren't working in financial services, what would you be doing? As a child I wanted to be a marine biologist so perhaps I would chase that dream. The lifestyle seems wonderful.
