State Street Global Advisors (SSgA) has appointed Scott Ebner as global head of ETF product development, based in London.

In his new role, Ebner will be responsible for developing and launching the firm's ETFs worldwide. He will report to James Ross, global head of ETFs at SSgA.

Prior to joining the firm, Ebner was global head of exchange-traded products (ETPs) at NYSE Euronext, where he oversaw the listing and trading of ETFs, warrants, certificates, structured notes, investment funds and other listed products. He was previously in charge of European ETPs for the exchange.

Before this, Ebner was senior vice president of the ETF marketplace at the American Stock Exchange (Amex), which was then acquired by NYSE Euronext.

State Street manages over $200bn in SPDR ETF assets worldwide, as of 30 June 2010.
