Recent turmoil in the world of government bonds has dramatically changed the fixed income universe. Once seen as a safe haven and escape route from equities during times of volatility, it appears the sector is itself experiencing the highest levels of volatility most managers can remember.
With the US downgraded, Greece, Portugal, Spain and Ireland in disarray and equity markets plunging, are their any safe havens left for income investors? This debate looks at the long term implications of recent events and how the managers are positioning their portfolios to take advantage of the situation.
The Fixed Income panel includes:
Kevin Daly - Fixed Income Portfolio Manager, Aberdeen Asset Management
Bryn Jones - Investment Manager, Manager of the Rathbone Ethical Bond Fund, Rathbones
Markus Graf - Sector Specialist - Fixed Income, Standard & Poor's
