Mike Douglas has taken up a new role at Scottish Equitable as managing director of its annuities operation.

Douglas was previously chief operating officer at Partnership Assurance (formerly known as the Pensions Annuity Friendly Society) before his move to ScotEq.

The life company owned by Aegon entered the annuities sector in 2005, and has ambitious plans to build its market presence, having already become a top five annuity provider.
