Aegon Scottish Equitable is preparing for a new series of roadshows to bring advisers up to date with the latest Budget and regulatory changes to the pensions landscape.

Presented by Rachel Vahey, head of pensions development, and Stewart Ritchie, director of pensions development, the Aegon roadshows will start in Southampton on 25 April and take in 20 venues across the UK before finishing up in Aberdeen on 1 June.

Aegon says the roadshows will highlight potential business opportunities for advisers following the recent Budget changes, including the increased attractiveness of salary sacrifice and the future market for Alternatively Secured Pension (ASP).

In addition, the seminars will cover topics including:

  • Personal accounts – where are we now and what action will every employer have to take over the next few years?
  • The impact of the new scheme specific transfer value rules, tax treatment of transfer incentives, contracting out rebates and the de-regulatory review on final salary schemes
  • Developments in the annuity market
  • Reviews on distribution, defined contribution (DC) member risks and generic advice

Vahey warns while A-day has come and gone, “things don’t stand still in pensions”, and points out the recent Budget and legislative changes “and a raft of government consultation documents” are opening up lots of opportunities for advisers and their clients.

She adds: “The new world of personal accounts may seem a long way off but every employer, large or small, will have to take action over the next few years. Advisers can make sure their clients take the right action ahead of time and don’t fall foul of planning blight.”

Advisers wishing to attend one of the roadshows can find more details about the event at the Aegon Scottish Equitable website www.aegon.co.uk/how/roadshows.htm
