Ivan Martin, executive chairman of Sesame, has been appointed to the board of the Association of Independent Financial Advisers (AIFA).
Martin will take up the role of deputy chairman and will serve alongside fellow deputy chairperson, Amanda Davidson.
Both Martin and Davidson will support the Rt. Hon John Gummer MP in his role as independent chairman of the association.
Following the announcement, Gummer says: “After discussion with the AIFA Council and universal acceptance, I am delighted to announce that Ivan Martin, executive chairman of Sesame, has agreed to become our new deputy chairman.
“I know that with Ivan and Amanda Davidson we have two outstanding deputies who, as chairman, I can rely fully upon.”
The decision to appoint a second deputy was taken following a corporate governance review, which examined how AIFA can best serve its members.
Martin says AIFA’s work is vital to the future success of the industry, particularly in a difficult economic and regulatory climate.
