Scottish Equitable is to begin its latest series of IFA roadshows on the challenges facing advisers post A-Day at the end of next week.

Stewart Ritchie, pensions development director, and Rachel Vahey pensions development manager, at Scottish Equitable, will kick off the series in Edinburgh on 21 April. The pair will then visit nine venues across the country, presenting the two and a quarter hour shows, before finishing in Nottingham on 23 May.

In each presentation, Ritchie and Vahey will assess how A-Day went in practice, will discuss what information is still outstanding and look at how new elements of the Finance Bill 2006, such as tax free cash recycling and inheritance tax (IHT) on pensions will work going forward.

Scottish Equitable says other topics featuring in the presentations, include looking ahead to the next big challenge of long term UK pension reform by discussing what the Pensions Reform White Paper might propose and the practical challenges for any government of introducing radical change.

Ritchie says: “A-Day was a significant milestone but is not the end of pension reform. As well as getting to grips with new details in the Finance Bill advisers should start to think about the government’s response to Turner to minimise potential planning blight.”
