The Chartered Insurance Institute (CII) says 2009 will be "a breakthrough year" for apprenticeships in the insurance and financial advice sectors.

CII relationship manager Caspar Bartington says the addition of Elmfield Training to the CII group of accredited providers will greatly help meet the significant increase in apprenticeship demand from employers.

Elmfield Training this week became the latest firm to receive CII accreditation, enabling it to provide apprenticeship programmes in retail financial services.

Mark Corden, director of strategy for Elmfield Group of Companies, says: "Elmfield has worked hard to understand the demands of both our existing customers and those of the future.

"We have had many enquiries for support with insurance related programmes and are proud to be able to offer CII qualifications for the future"

Over 6,400 people started an Apprenticeship with Elmfield Training in 2008 and current customers include Vodafone UK, Phones 4U Ltd, Pearson PLC, Homeserve PLC and DHL Express.
