Select & Protect (S&P) is to launch a Mortgage Payment Protection Insurance (MPPI) product provided by FirstAssist Insurance Services which will be available to all S&P brokers.

The product will have cover available for self-employed and carers. It can be sold alongside a mortgage or as a stand alone sale and will cover full Accident Sickness Unemployment (ASU) suite, including an unemployment only option.

Paul Firkins, sales director at S&P, adds: "Feedback from the market has been extensive, brokers need an MPPI product which helps address accident, sickness and unemployment including stand-alone options with the flexibility to apply to new as well as existing borrowers."

Alistair Hardie, managing director of speciality insurance at FirstAssist Insurance Services, comments: "At a time when other providers are withdrawing from the market or restricting cover, we remain fully committed. The need for ASU cover has never been higher and with the signs of improvement in the mortgage market, we are confident the new product will be a great success."
