Daniel Godfrey has stepped down from his role as director general of the AIC, after 11 years of the job, to “seek a new challenge”.
His former deputy Ian Sayers has taken over the position temporarily until the association’s board appoints a replacement.
Godfrey is to continue working with the AIC on a consultancy basis to ease the new incumbent’s transition into the job.
He says: “It has been an honour and a privilege to lead the AIC and to represent the investment company sector.
“It is a role which I have enjoyed immensely. But after 11 years, in which the AIC has been incredibly successful, I need to seek a new challenge that will stretch me again and, I hope, have a broader impact.”
