Nucleus has appointed Barry Neilson, formerly of F&C Investments, as business development director.

Neilson, who was F&C Investments' director of business development, joins as a member of the executive team and will report to CEO David Ferguson.

He will have overall responsibility for business development and account management functions.

During his time at F&C, Neilson was responsible for the management of its business development proposition across investment IFAs, national distributors, private client managers, life companies and platforms.

"We are thrilled to welcome Barry to the Nucleus team," says Ferguson. "With 2010 shaping up to be a pivotal year for the platform industry his knowledge and understanding of the IFA market will be of tremendous benefit to the business and our member firms as we look to accelerate our growth and development.

"This also completes the executive team with a view to building on our momentum as we approach break-even and continue to grow our market share."
