IFAonline would like to send its condolences to the family and friends of Jupiter fund manager Laurie Petar, who passed away yesterday after a long battle with prostate cancer.
Laurie, who joined Jupiter in 1999, was manager of the group's Fund of Investment Trusts and Monthly Income fund.
Jupiter CEO Edward Bonham Carter says Laurie will be greatly missed by everyone at the group.
"We extend our deepest sympathies and sincere condolences to his family and many friends," he says.
"Laurie remained very much himself in spirit during his illness and, at his choice, continued to run his funds with the support of Patrick Harrington to the end.
"He will be greatly missed by all who knew him at Jupiter where he was both a valued colleague and friend."
Jupiter CIO John Chatfeild-Roberts added: "This is a very sad time for Laurie's family, friends and all of us at Jupiter. He will be greatly missed.
"Laurie's commitment to his funds remained throughout his long illness and he took great satisfaction from his ability to continue producing strong performance during this time.
"From the start of this year he was supported in this endeavour by Patrick Harrington who successfully managed a similar fund at M&G for several years and also covered the sector for OLIM between September 2005 and January 2009."
Harrington will take over sole management of the funds with immediate effect.
