Cazenove has promoted Rob Thorpe to the newly-created head of UK retail position.

Thorpe, previously head of UK advisory, will have a main focus on implementing the group's retail strategy ahead of the RDR.

Cazenove says Thorpe has already delivered strong distribution growth in the life company, platform and national IFA firm spaces.

Thorpe has also pioneered TCF initiatives with key distributors and built strong partnerships in adviser education ahead of anticipated new CPD requirements for the RDR, the group says.

Cazenove managing director of investment funds Robin Minter-Kemp says Thorpe's appointment underlines the importance the group has in aligning its strategy into the RDR world.

"If we are to replace our standard practice of sharing renewal commission, we need to enhance our value with advisors through availability of demanded solutions, support professional marketing initiatives and above all provide a continuity of education in conjunction with advice mediation," he says.

"Rob merits the recognition for this promotion resulting from the progress we have made with key distributors to date."
