The Consumer Financial Education Body (CFEB), the organisation responsible for helping consumers understand financial matters, has appointed five new non-executive directors to its board.
Jonathan Douglas, Laurie Edmans CBE, Richard Hughes, Stephen Locke and Joanne Shaw join the CFEB Board, bringing the total number of members to eight.
"I am delighted to welcome this unique team to the CFEB Board," says chairman Gerard Lemos. "Their varied backgrounds and experience will be invaluable for our success Creating CFEB's long-term strategy is a key output for this year and I look forward to working with the new team to launch it in Spring 2011".
Douglas, chief executive of the National Literacy Trust since 2007, was previously head of policy development at the Museum and Libraries Archives Council, while Edmans currently sits on the board of NEST and is chair of the Safe Home Income Plans Group.
Hughes, a consultant since 2001, currently leads Capgemini Consulting's work in justice in the UK.
Locke, who began his career at HMT before spending 15 years at Which?, is currently deputy chair of Consumer Focus and member of the Professional Standards Board of the Chartered Insurance Institute.
Shaw, who previously sat on the management board of the Audit Commission, is chair of NHS Direct, non-executive director of the British Board of Film Classification and chairman of Datapharm communications.
The other board members are Louise Macdonald, chairman Gerard Lemos and chief executive Tony Hobman. The board's first meeting will be held in January 2011.
