Fourteen people, including a solicitor, surveyors, valuers and mortgage advisers, have appeared in court in Wales charged in connection with an alleged £20m conspiracy to defraud.

The charges follow a two-year inquiry by North Wales Police into what are alleged to be several fraudulent mortgage applications, according to the BBC.

The defendants were granted bail until a crown court hearing in April and all those charged were re-bailed before a preliminary hearing at Caernarfon Crown Court and set to reappear on 13 April.
