Old Mill is launching a training scheme for young people interested in a career in financial planning or accountancy and looking for an alternative route to university.
The firm is offering those who have just completed their A' Levels (or equivalents) the opportunity to embark on a three year course which will initially see them learn basic bookkeeping and then go on to take financial planning qualifications.
The West Country-based chartered business intends to take on four or five candidates per year, training them in house, with the possibility of taking them on at the end of the three years.
Group HR manager Ken Hughes said: "This training scheme takes talented local people, who have gained good A' Levels or equivalent, and gives them a start on the career ladder.
"University is not right for everyone, and neither is going straight into a job. Our programme offers another alternative - a kind of half-way house between further education and work.
"Trainees are given the chance to establish themselves in the work place and start earning a living, but also to continue learning and gaining new skills and qualifications along the way."
The company will begin its search for candidates next month and is hoping to begin training its first batch of recruits within the next few months.
