Bestinvest has appointed former UBS man Gareth Lewis as head of investment management.

Lewis, who took up his role yesterday, spent the last eight years at UBS as UK chief investment officer and latterly head of investment management.

Since joining Bestinvest in 2010, chief executive Peter Hall - previously managing director at UBS Wealth Management - and chairman Mike Covell, formerly of Goldman Sachs Private Wealth Management Europe, have made a number of appointments to the board.

COO Donald Reid joined the investment adviser in September 2010, having worked as head of operations at UBS Wealth Management in the UK.

Lee Dooley also joined as head of direct and advisory businesses from St James's Place where he was client services director.

Peter Hall said: "Gareth is an extremely highly regarded investment director and he is an excellent addition to our management team.

"Having worked closely with Gareth in the past, I am very aware of his abilities and am delighted that he has agreed to join Bestinvest."
