Hargreaves Lansdown has appointed British Retail Consortium (BRC) director general Stephen Robertson as non executive director.

Robertson has been director general of the BRC, which represents the interests of UK retail to government and media, since 2008.

Hargreaves has also appointed Dharmash Mistry, partner at venture capital firm Balderton Capital LLC, as non-executive director. He is also a non-executive director at Dixons Retail plc.

Both were appointed on October 3.

"We are pleased to welcome Dharmash and Stephen to the Board," said Hargreaves Lansdown chairman Mike Evans. "Our board now comprises nine directors, with the majority being independent.

"This more than satisfies the requirements of the UK corporate governance code, and we believe it is a strong board to support our chief executive and his executive team."
