Chartered financial planner Pete Matthew has marked the occasion of recording his 150th educational video for consumers by re-designing his website, Meaningful Money.
A director at Penzance-based Jacksons Financial Services, which recently became a Chartered firm, Matthew originally set up the website in April 2010.
Since then, it has featured videos on a wide range of subjects, including investment trusts, the difference between active and passive investing and asset allocation.
The website was set up solely for the purpose of providing personal finance education for consumers, and Matthew secured sponsorship from Seven Investment Management earlier this year to pay for its running costs.
He also won the Baillie Gifford Financial Education Award prize at the Professional Adviser awards in February for his efforts.
The videos currently get around 50 views per day and Matthew explained why, after 18 months, he has gone for a new look.
"I built the first site myself but I found myself coming up against its limitations, particularly in terms of search and indexing," he said.
"I also wanted to engage more and it really needed a shift to WordPress. The new site looks designed."
His efforts have also paid off commercially, with at least one significant client coming to him as a direct result of seeing his videos.
Matthew said: "He felt he had been let down previously by the industry and turned to Google and found me that way.
"He sent me an email with his situation and said he had viewed a few of my videos and felt he knew me and could trust me."
Following some Skype conversations, the man, who lives over 300 miles away from Penzance in Bexhill-on-Sea, has since become a client with Jacksons.
