The head of Aviva’s wrap Nicholas Burton has stepped down to pursue a career in teaching.

He left the insurer in the summer and has been replaced by Paula Whitwell-Lumsden, previously head of opeartions for Aviva wrap, who is now head of proposition, individual pension and wrap.

Burton joined the insurer in 2006 and was at the helm when Aviva relaunched its retail wrap in January 2010 - two years after it closed its Liftetime operation to new business owing to service issues.

Following relaunch of its retail wrap, powered by Scottish Friendly and Bravura, Burton was a vocal campaigner for the banning of fund manager rebates paid to platforms.

In its August policy paper, the FSA set out its intention to ban both fund manager and cash rebates.

Prior to Aviva, Burton had stints at Fidelity, Scottish Widows and Skandia.

Whitwell-Lumsden has been at the insurer for nearly 25 years and was part of the team which migrated the Aviva wrap from Lifetime to Scottish Friendly.

Aviva recently revealed it is launching a corporate wrap solution next year as it looks to grab a foothold in the workplace savings market.
