Henderson has named Jim Irvine, who currently heads up the fund manager's structured products and advisory unit, as head of its £16bn fixed income business.
Irvine, who assumes the role on 1 February, takes over from Mitesh Sheth, who will become director of business innovation.
Colin Fleury, currently head of asset backed securities, will take over the management of the renamed Secured Credit business from Irvine.
David Jacob, Henderson chief investment officer, said: "Jim has done an excellent job in building our asset backed securities, loans and advisory business over the past few years.
"[He] is a highly regarded leader who understands our fixed income business, people and process, and will now bring his experience and enthusiasm to our wider fixed income client base."
