Stephen Whittaker and Guy Crossland are to manage to New Star UK Hedge Fund while Alan Miller is on sabbatical leave.
Whittaker, joint chief investment officer will supervise the running of the New Star UK Hedge fund, which Miller has managed since its launch in 1997. He will be assisted by Crossland, who was poached from Investec. There would be no changes in the underlying investment strategy of the portfolio as a result of the moves.
Crossland has more than 20 years' experience as an investment professional in the UK. In the past he has worked with Whittaker providing advice and recommendations on portfolios.
In addition, Gregor Logan has replaced Miller as joint chief investment officer. He was previously joint deputy chief investment officer at New Star.
Logan joined New Star in January 2004 and has more than 27 years' experience in the industry. He worked for 13 years at Fidelity International before becoming investment director at MGM Insurance and Pavilion AM.
According to New Star, Miller will be away until the end of the year, to spend time with his family. Last year he was the subject of a high profile divorce case and was ordered by the House of Lords to pay his ex-wife £5m.
