Friends Provident International (FPI) has enhanced its online tool for offshore advisers, designed to ease fund selection.

The new Portfolio Forensics Report (PFR) has been launched to add functionality to the fund selection process and incorporates the Dynamic Portfolio Planner International (DPPi) tool.

DPPi takes a top-down asset allocation perspective when devising the most suitable investment strategy for investors.

While it is widely accepted asset allocation is the key driver for portfolio variance and returns, selecting the best funds can also boost portfolio performance, says FPI.

The firm offers options and additional information, including: look through asset allocation, individual fund profiling data, a portfolio amc calculator, plus individual and proposed portfolio performance.

It also allows advisers to compare the proposed portfolio against tailored benchmarks, conduct risk/reward analysis and produce a customisable PDF report for onward transmission to investors, as well as automatic storage within the DPPi ‘adviser control centre' for audit trail purposes.

"Given the unprecedented times of 2008/9, it is clear that fund research is essential," says Jim Henning, funds marketing and research manager, FPI.

"Coupled with an increasingly challenging regulatory environment, now more than ever, professional advisers need to be given the right support," he says.
