Crossborder tax advisers, Taxand, has announced it is setting up an alliance in Australia.

Taxand describes the Australian tax system as “complex and constantly being reformed so multinationals investing into Australia need high quality tax advice that takes away the complexity.”

The alliance is with Australian law firm Corrs Chambers Westgarth. Australia is a regional hub for a large number of global companies operating within Australasia and South-East Asia, all in need of multi-disciplinary and international tax advice.

Corrs Chambers Westgarth has offices in Sydney, Melbourne, Brisbane and Perth. The tax expertise offered from these offices, which are headed up by Jonathon Leek, covers sectors such as energy, resources, real estate and infrastructure in addition to the provision of a tax disputes division.

Frédéric Donnedieu de Vabres, Chairman of Taxand, said, “More and more of our clients are investing in their operations in Australia due to its growing national economy and strong trade links with emerging markets in Asia and the rest of the world. The Australian team is well-placed to combine specialist local tax advice with an international perspective.”

Taxand has nearly 400 tax partners and over 2,000 tax advisers operating in 49 countries.
