Financial Planning Week takes place on 21-27 November. It’s not too late to take part...

The aim of Financial Planning Week is to raise awareness of the importance of financial planning. Here’s how five advisers aim to engage with the general public...

Jason Holmes, Lumen Financial Planning

We’re doing a range of seminars in the local community through a business forum that we run. It’s aimed at local business owners, but also focuses on wills and top tips for small business owners – are they going to sell the business, or pass it on? It’s amazing the amount of people who don’t have wills, or made them more than ten years ago.

Pete Matthew, Jacksons Financial Services

I’m doing five live shows on MeaningfulMoney.tv, my education website full of videos explaining financial concepts in easy language. Financial planning should happen from an early age, at school and at home, and we need to come up with a better system than saddling our students with huge debts at the outset of their working lives.

Steve Taylor, Taylor Oliver

We’ll be supporting top charity Neurocare by offering two days of free financial advice. For a minimum suggested donation of £20, we’ll offer a 60 minute consultation and all the money raised will go directly to Neurocare.

Andy Nevett, Freedom Financial Planning

I decided to offer basic lessons in finance at our local school when a friend’s daughter started work as an apprentice teaching assistant. Aged 16 and earning £95 per week, she asked my advice on whether or not she should pay the £20 a month into the local government pension scheme.

Martin Bamford,
Informed Choice

We’re hosting an Introduction to Financial Planning Workshop that will provide attendees with a very practical insight into the elements of a comprehensive financial plan, including lifetime cash flow forecasting and the impact of various scenarios life can throw our way.
