Guaranteed products aren't for everyone but they can be a valuable solution in many different circumstances. They offer clients more choice and flexibility, and in some cases, a better way of achieving clients' goals without locking them into one solution for the rest of their lives. Clients can choose to guarantee their income (for life or for a set period) or their capital. Guarantees are also now available for Trustees of SIPP and SSAS schemes.

Against a backdrop of longevity and market volatility, unit linked guarantees are becoming increasingly popular, however, many advisers still approach them with caution. As we move towards RDR, more and more providers will be entering this market and greater consideration will need to be given to guarantees before reaching recommendations.
