The first Islamic Finance conference in the North of England is being held in Leeds.
Held at the Royal Armouries in Leeds, on 13 and 14 October the event will feature presentations by speakers from financial, commercial, academic and political arenas.
The conference will provide an introduction to Islamic finance, cover the rationale for growth in Sharia-compliant products, and will also present the results of a study about the demand for these products.
Julian Bridgewater, Managing Director of Vantage Research, who conducted the study, believes the demand for Sharia-compliant products from Britain's 1.6m Muslims may sometimes be going unmet.
"The research has uncovered a surprisingly wide range of expectations British Muslims can have of financial providers, and anyone operating in this sector, may need to consider this to maximize their appeal to customers," he said.
